My sisters
Alright so we are told we have to talk about how Covid-19 has affected us and while it continues to wreak havoc on my life it has also ruined the life of my younger sister and many more just like her. My sister is a Senior at Churubusco High School and she like many others in the class of 2020. While she like the rest of us have to finish out the school year online and it sucks because she won’t see her teachers again and she won’t get to walk the halls of the school with her friends and her boyfriend again and while she’s hurt about that she’s even more hurt because she didn’t get to finish out her show choir season. In a previous blog I talked about how my sister and I both have POTS and how it affects her way more than it affects me and the last Show Choir comp they went to she was to sick to preform but she was okay not preforming because she had one more comp as well as the state comp but that was before this mess with Covid-19. She like the other seniors in show choir won’t get to dance one last time on stage with their group. Something else she is upset about is her senior prom, her and her boyfriend were planning to go to prom and their colors were going to be yellow (gross but that’s my opinion) anyways she is thankful she didn’t go out and buy her dress yet like other girls had and spent lost of money on a dress they will more than likely never wear now. While being a senior is stressful enough these seniors like my sister are facing the harsh reality that they may not get to even walk at graduation, that they might only get their diplomas mailed to them and my sister is super heart broken as a lot of seniors are because they put in a lot of work to be able to walk across the stage and shake hands with the principal and get their diplomas in front of their peers. High school seniors aren’t the only ones facing this problem even college seniors are worried.
My sister told me the other day while looking at my pictures from graduation, “i might not get to get pictures with you, Tiffany, Jasmine, mom, dad, and nana like we all got with you because we might not be aloud to walk with out class.” That kinda broke my heart and i feel extremely bad for her and the other seniors because being able to walk across that stage was amazing, it felt like a weight was lifted off your shoulders and it was a perfect ending to the high school chapter.
