The Sister I Wished for
Hey guys, welcome back for week 5.
This week I’m going to take a dip into my siblings I know I’ve talked about them in previous blogs so here’s a little background info about them.
Be careful what you wish for because sometimes things come true but they aren’t always entirely bad the outcome i mean.
I have three sister one older, two younger but from the age of 3 til 9 i was the oldest child. I always wanted an older sister or brother but you don’t always get what you wished for. Unless your father had a unknown child when he got with your mother. For real that’s how it went. My older Sister was born in January of 1994 and my parents met and started dating in March of 1994 but my father had no clue that his ex was pregnant when they split up month before so he definitely had no clue that he had a daughter. In 2009 my older sister found my dad on MySpace ( i know it’s like a dinosaur version of Facebook) anyways my dad had mixed emotions so my mom made away for my sister to come up to New York with her mom to meet us.
When they came up i was 9 so that made my sisters 6 and 3. We had no idea who this teenager was going into our house and calling our dad, dad but when my mom pulled me aside and asked me what i thought it meant i was beyond confused, so she told me that she was my big sister the one i was wishing i had. It was fun to go to school and tell everyone who had known me for a few years that i had a long lost big sister. My moms family absolutely loved her but i had a rude awakening when my cousin looked at me and said that she wasn’t my sister she was just a half sister and i had no clue what that meant because at the time a sibling was a sibling.
Having an older sister was fantastic the next time she came to visit she brought one of her two older sisters and one of her two younger sisters and we all had fun celebrating my younger sisters birthday. Then she came up for my birthday with her boyfriend and they stayed for a bit in the summer time and we stained his shirt with silly string. (To this day his shirt is stained but he’s cool with it). While she was up that summer she convinced me that it was a good idea to convince my parents to get a kitten so i did and they let us get a kitten. Guess what though when she went home back to Indiana i was stuck taking care of the cat, i mean of course i was i wanted the stupid thing but me being me pawned that little guy right off on the baby sister she didn’t mind it much at least i don’t think.
When my older sister came up for thanksgiving that year everything was different. She was more careful and we weren’t allowed to jump around and rough house anymore and i was confused but we soon found out that the reason behind that was because she was pregnant. As a 10 year old i was taught that teenagers didn’t have babies but here one was pregnant with a baby. I told my sister that i was mad at her because teenagers didn’t have babies. She asked me how long i would be mad at her and the typical response of a 4th grader is exactly what i said, until the baby is born. Well in July of 2010 i became an aunt to my nephew, the first baby i remember holding because i was 5 when my baby sister was born. About two years later she had another baby my niece and then after i graduated high school she had another baby my youngest nephew.
I am extremely jealous of my baby sister sometimes because basically all her life Tiffany has been our older sister so she knows no difference while me i was older and remember a time when i was the oldest but I’m not entirely butt hurt about it because hey, i wished i had an older sibling and the universe said here you got one. Do you think if all three of us wishes for a older brother it would work just the same? No, alright it was worth asking for.... 😂
I love my sisters very much they are the reason i am who i am and i believe that with all my heart because with out them i wouldn’t have people to share my Harry Potter obsession with and clearly that’s a problem. But I also wouldn’t have my best friends. And to be completely honest with out my sisters i wouldn’t have my little twin who is going to be 15 on Friday.

This is a very heartwarming story. My wife only recently met her father and found out she has many siblings. He lives in the Philippines and we are going to meet them this summer. As a young kid I bet you were super excited and got to skip some of the anxiety you might have had if you were older.
