A little school and a little restaurant distancing
So as many of you already know, soon after spring break began we were told that our spring break would be extended to match with Purdue University’s spring break. That was all fine and dandy and we expected that we would return to campus after the two weeks were up and we would finish out the spring semester in person.
That’s not at all what happened. Soon after we were told that spring break had been extended we were told that we would not be returning to campus to finish out the semester but instead we would move to online classes. Now I don't know about any of you. There is a reason I don't take online classes and that’s because I’m afraid that I wont do the work or I’ll forget about the work or the biggest thing is I learn better face to face and hands on. Be that as it may the University is doing it to protect us the students and i respect that. Soon after the colleges made the call to shut down for the remainder of the semester the grade schools began to do it as well except they are planning to go back at the beginning of May. We are all being told to practice Social Distancing, doing classes online, hanging and talking to friends online and minimizing our time out of our houses.
Restaurants and businesses that we deemed as these 3rd places or hangouts are suffering because they have been shut down and told to only do Carryout or delivery, or drive Thur if they got one of those.
Now i work at a restaurant, buffet actually that also already offers delivery and Carryout. With the restaurants shutting down our dining room that got filled multiple times a week with families to eat dinner or friends and coworkers for lunch is empty. We aren’t the only ones suffering because around the United States restaurants are running into the same issues and most have been forced to adapt and adopt Carryout and delivery just to stay afloat economically. Small business in small towns it’s harder to stay afloat but Churubusco is fighting hard to help out the small businesses.
